Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Meeplery app for iPhone processes, why it is needed, where it is stored and how to delete it.

The data controller is Vadzim Kamkou, an individual developer. For any question about your data, write to hello@meeplery.com.

In short

• Meeplery needs an account: your plays, players and stats are stored on our server so you can use them on any device and share them with the people you play with.
• There is no advertising, no third-party analytics and no data is shared with ad networks.
• We do not sell your data.
• You can have your account and everything tied to it deleted.

What data is processed

Account data

Your email address, your display name and the date the account was created. Passwords are stored only as an irreversible hash and are not available to us.

Data you enter yourself

Plays and proposals (game, date and time, place, players, scores, outcome), players, places, game collections and wishlists, and invitations you send or accept.

Player names are free text and can be nicknames. Real names, phone numbers, addresses or anything else that identifies a person are not required. If you enter other people's details, it is on you to have their consent.

Photos

If you set an avatar for yourself or a player, the picture you choose is uploaded to our server. It is visible to the players in your plays and also appears in the public lists of games you want to play. The app uses the system photo picker, so it only sees the one picture you pick — not your photo library.

Camera

The camera is used only to scan invitation QR codes. Nothing from the camera is saved or uploaded.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token to send you invitations and updates about your plays. You can turn notifications off in iOS settings at any time.

Technical data

When the app talks to the server, the server sees the connection's IP address, the time of the request, and the app and OS versions. This is used to operate the service and prevent abuse, and is kept in logs for a limited time.

What we do not collect

The app does not ask for your location or contacts. It contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics trackers. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not track you across other apps or websites.

What other people see

When you invite someone to a play, they see who is taking part, the date and the place.

Players only see data for plays they took part in or that took place at a location they host. They don't see your other plays — only the ones you played together.

The lists of games you want to play are public: other Meeplery users can see them together with your name and avatar.

Game information

Game titles, cover art, short descriptions and player counts come from BoardGameGeek and are shipped inside the app. Searching for a game happens on your device; nothing about you or your plays is sent to BoardGameGeek.

Where data is stored

A copy of your data is kept on your device so the app opens quickly. The data itself is stored on servers operated by Supabase, which acts as a data processor on our behalf. The storage region is the European Union (Ireland). Connections to the server are protected with TLS.

Database backups are taken daily and kept in a private repository with restricted access.

Who data is shared with

• Supabase — database, file storage and authentication.
• Apple — app distribution and delivery of push notifications.
• Other Meeplery users — as described in “What other people see”.

Data may also be disclosed where the law requires it. Otherwise we do not pass it on and do not sell it.

How long data is kept

Your data is kept for as long as you use your account and is removed when you delete the records or the account. Technical logs are kept for no longer than 90 days. Backups are kept for 30 days, so deleted data disappears from them within 30 days as well.

How to delete your data

Individual plays and players can be deleted in the app at any time.

To delete your account and all the data tied to it, email hello@meeplery.com from the address on the account. We will delete it within 10 days and confirm by email. Account deletion inside the app is coming in a future update. Plays you have in common with other players stay in their history without your account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to your data, to have it corrected, deleted or ported, and to withdraw your consent. Write to hello@meeplery.com to do so. If our answer does not satisfy you, you may lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, let us know and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new effective date. We will notify you in the app about material changes.
